About Mrs. Taylor

cMy name is Brandi Taylor. I grew up in Clay County and graduated from Clay County High School in 2000. I graduated from JSU in 2006 with a BS in Elementary Education. I met my husband in 2007 and we were married in October 2007.My husband's name is Josh and he teaches 5th grade at Houston Elementary. We live in Oxford, AL. We have 3 furbabies; Domino,Oliver,  and Sophie.
I enjoy going on vacations with my husband, going shopping at TEACHER STORES, camping, fishing, and spending time with my niece, Amelia, and nephew, Benjamin. They are both12 years old and they are my world. They are both very, very spoiled.

A few of my favorites are: Chic-fil-a, Diet Dr. Pepper, adult coloring books, and Lifetime/Hallmark Movies.

Teaching has been my passion since I was a little girl. My aunt was the greatest teacher I have ever met. She passed away in June of 2016 a week after school was out. She was still teaching 1st grade after over 40 years and was planning on returning the following year. She was my role model, my mentor, and my hero. She knew how to teach her students without ever raising her voice. She was loving and compassionate all the time. She was a true inspiration to me and always will be. I strive to be just like her in my classroom each and every day.

This year will be very special to me. I will be moving to 3rd grade to be departmentalized teaching Math! I am really excited.

"I've come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It's my personal approach that creates the climate. It's my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess tremendous power to make a student's life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a student humanized or de-humanized."
